Week of 05/30/2023 06/3/2023

Exploration Topic: Our Impact

Essential Question: How do my actions impact growth and change?

Focus Area: Grow Weekly Focus: Things That Grow How am I helping the children notice things in the world around them that grow (e.g., plants, people, animals)? How am I learning and recording that excites the children about the things around them that grow? How am I helping the children explore their interests in things that grow? What materials can I provide to support this Exploration?

Focused Learning Activity for The Week: Students will be encouraged to join the teacher in the science area. With this activity, children will have the opportunity to better understand the life cycle process such as how plants grow? The teacher will prompt the students to draw an answer to the question, "How plants grow? What do they need to grow? How can you help plants to grow?

Students that need extra support: Will be given prompting answers and asked children How plants grow?  How can you help them to grow? For example, "The teacher will invite children to sit in the science area, and she will show children some pictures of seeds, soil, roots, stems, leaves, flowers, etc. Then the teacher will ask children How plants grow? The teacher will write whatever they express.

Students that are ready for a challenge: Will be prompted to use multiple sentences when responding to the question "How can plants grow?" Tell me more about it? What do you notice about it? Children will have the opportunity to explain what they know in long sentences; the teacher will extend the conversation and will write whatever they say.

ELL Students: Will be given the directions / questions in Spanish.  Dictation will be written in whichever language they answer.
